THE WEATHER IS CHANGING

by Christie Phoenix Web Master on Friday, July 04, 2014 10:16 AM

Climate change is an important environmental issue that has been attributed to human activities, including the release of carbon dioxide and greenhouse gases, as well as natural processes.

Climate change is partially responsible for the rising frequency and severity of extreme weather events such as floods, storms and droughts since warmer temperatures tend to produce more violent weather patterns.

As a result of climate change, extreme weather events involving hail, wind and precipitation that used to happen every 40 years in Canada are now happening every 6 years in some regions. (IBC)

HOW WEATHER AFFECTS INSURANCE

Weather patterns are forcing the insurance industry to evolve products, policies and what you pay to address new risks. You should talk with your broker about the risks in your area associated with changes in weather to make sure the people and things you care about are protected.
